Three-Year Mark Since the Beginning of the Full-scale Invasion of Ukraine

As we mark the third anniversary of the full-scale invasion in Ukraine, we are reminded of the unimaginable toll this conflict continues to take on the lives of millions.
Three years ago, russia launched a brutal invasion that has displaced countless families, destroyed homes, and shattered lives. Ukrainian men, women, and children are enduring extraordinary hardships, and with each passing day, the need for our collective action becomes more urgent.
This day reminds us of the resilience and sacrifice of the Ukrainian people, it fires us up to work toward continued support for their valiant struggle against oppression.
The Losses and Destruction are Heartbreaking
This past January alone, at least 139 civilians were killed and 738 injured in Ukraine, a 39% increase from December. The toll of war continues to rise, impacting countless lives. The humanitarian crisis is worsening, with growing civilian casualties, deepening mental health struggles, and severe damage to infrastructure.
Over 3.7 million Ukrainians have been displaced within their own country, struggling to survive in a war-torn landscape. In total, 10 million people have been displaced overall—nearly a quarter of Ukraine’s pre-war population.
More than 12,000 civilians have lost their lives, while countless others bear physical and emotional scars.
Staggering 1762 attacks on healthcare have been documented since 2022, significantly impacting patient care.
Every day, millions of Ukrainians face hunger, inadequate medical care, and the constant threat of violence.

Medical Aid: Saving Lives Every Day
As we continue to navigate through the ongoing challenges presented by the full-scale ivasion in Ukraine, Nova Ukraine remains deeply committed to providing vital medical aid. Since 2022, over 50% of our budget has been directed towards medical initiatives, to make sure we save lives and help rebuild lives. From providing first-aid trainings to civilians and defenders to facilitating innovative “Ukraine Without Pain” project which aims to open a network of centers for treating patients with chronic pain.
Enhanced Medical Support for Ukraine’s Defenders
In response to escalating needs, Nova Ukraine has significantly expanded its medical support programs for wounded defenders. This includes:
Comprehensive Life-Saving First-Aid Initiatives:
We have invested heavily in effective first-aid supplies, which are crucial for saving lives whenever people are in danger. This program has equipped defenders and civilians alike with essential first-aid capabilities.
In 2024, Nova Ukraine distributed 7,541 Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs) for emergency care, provided 199 portable ultrasound machines, issued tactical medicine backpacks to 43,645 paramedics and military medics, and supplied training mannequins to over 10 training centers to bolster lifesaving skills.
Project MedHub:
We supported over 13,000 individuals this year alone with $150,000 worth of medical supplies and equipment delivered to military medics and hospitals. Our efforts ensure that those who are risking their lives receive the best possible care in their most critical moments.
Thanks to your continued support, these initiatives have not only saved lives but have also significantly boosted the medical response capabilities in Ukraine amidst the war.

Aid to Ukraine Must Continue
As the war enters its fourth year, continued political and military US support for Ukraine is now in doubt. But this is more than Ukraine’s fight. It is a battle for liberty, democracy, and human rights. The cost of inaction is too great. The world must stand united in unwavering support.
Without sustained international aid, millions will continue to suffer from displacement, lack of medical care, and the devastation of war. Now is the time to act. We must stand firm.
International Support and Security Cooperation
Recent diplomatic developments have led to uncertainty about continued global support. Since 2022, the United States has provided over $129 billion in assistance (€114.15 billion), with Europe providing over $142.84 billion (€132.26 billion). The European Union is strengthening sanctions and military aid, while the U.S. debates future assistance amid political shifts. With U.S. support at risk, advocacy and public pressure are more critical than ever.

Nova Ukraine was founded in 2014 in response to the Maidan protests and Russia’s subsequent illegal annexation of Crimea. It began as a grassroots movement through rallies and public demonstrations. Advocacy has been central to our mission since the very beginning, and we continue to leverage this powerful tool to mobilize international support for Ukraine.
Through our public awareness campaigns, coalition-building efforts, and direct engagement with policymakers, we strive to enhance understanding and support for Ukraine, ensuring that the critical needs for humanitarian and military aid are effectively communicated and met.
How You Can Help
Contact Your Representatives – Call, email, or write to your elected officials urging them to support ongoing humanitarian and military aid for Ukraine. You can find your representatives at congress.gov or use an automated reach-out tool.
Attend Rallies and Events – Show your support by joining local and national demonstrations (the list is at this newsletter’s end). Your presence matters.
Use Your Social Media Voice – Share verified information, engage with lawmakers online, and educate your community about Ukraine’s needs.
