Weapons Aid Resumes: Advocacy in Action Across the U.S.

The U.S. resumes weapons shipments to Ukraine. After a brief but tense pause, the U.S. has pledged to send more defensive weapons — including Patriot missiles — to help Ukraine protect civilians from intensifying russian attacks.
This decision was confirmed in a July 7 press release by Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell (Statement by Chief Pentagon Spokesman Sean Parnell on Ukraine Military Aid) and reported by the Associated Press in the article titled Trump administration resumes sending some weapons to Ukraine after Pentagon pause. ”They have to be able to defend themselves. They’re getting hit very hard,” President Trump said this week.
Ukrainian President Zelenskyy after the meeting with U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg stated: “We thank President Trump, both parties, and all American people for their support and assistance. We sincerely value the friendship between our nations.”
Over the past week, grassroots advocates across dozens of U.S. states stepped up as soon as news broke about the pause in aid.
Nova Ukraine, together with our partner organizations through the American Coalition for Ukraine (ACU), helped organize emergency call-a-thons and mobilized thousands to contact their representatives and demand continued aid. With support from leadership, advocacy networks were able to give every U.S.-based supporter of Ukraine a voice.
The advocacy effort was bipartisan — driven by supporters across party lines, united in the belief that Ukraine must be defended. May 2025 polling shows that 62% of Americans believe the U.S. should continue providing weapons to Ukraine and imposing sanctions on russia — including Democrats and a growing number of Republicans.
This is what advocacy looks like: not just a handful of scattered voices — but thousands, rising at once.
